Nature, history and crystal-clear sea
With its 224 km², Elba Island is the third-largest island in Italy and the largest in the Tuscan Archipelago. Located just 10 km off the coast, it is easily accessible from Piombino Marittima, with numerous ferries and hydrofoils operating daily and reaching the island in about one hour.
Elba has a population of approximately 35,000 inhabitants, spread across seven municipalities. Portoferraio, the island’s capital, is the most populous, with around 12,000 residents. The other municipalities are Capoliveri, Campo nell’Elba, Porto Azzurro, Marciana, Marciana Marina, and Rio.

An island of many facets
Despite a coastline of just 147 km, Elba Island boasts an extraordinary variety of landscapes. From quaint fishing villages to medieval fortresses, from golden sandy beaches and secluded coves to dramatic cliffs plunging into the sea, Elba is a destination full of surprises at every turn.
Its landscape is dominated by Monte Capanne, the highest peak of the archipelago at 1,019 meters. Within minutes, you can transition from towering sea cliffs over crystal-clear waters to lush forests and breathtaking panoramic views stretching across the entire Tuscan Archipelago.
Beyond its natural beauty, Elba boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, with traces of civilizations ranging from the Etruscans to the Romans, from Medici fortifications to the Napoleonic era. This perfect balance of nature, history, and tradition makes Elba Island a truly unique destination for those seeking stunning beaches, scenic hikes, and cultural experiences.
